A much needed workshop in the past. 

 

The Albany institute was a creation of the Deptford Fund, a charitable foundation with the aim of supporting the poor community surrounding the docks, through workshops like 'boot repairs'.

We would love to reintroduce the Boot Repair workshop, this time with a modern day twist. Learn how to make your own garments from scratch, repair your own shoes rather than buying new and bring into focus a more sustainable approach to fashion. A perfect opportunity for budding fashion designers or anyone with an interest in clothes! This workshop could also offer the opportunity to support a range of charities in providing clothes, sleeping bags or blankets to those in need. 

 

How could we adapt this? In the spirit of supporting others and the environment could The Albany offer workshops on how to mend and recycle clothes?
